“Wild Thyme” was written in 1997, two decades before the tragic events of January 13, 2019, and remains unpublished. You can only see it here, and for ONE NIGHT ONLY.

The play is set on the grounds of the American Shakespeare Festival Theatre and includes playful vignettes of some of Shakespeare’s most famous works performed at our theatre. The action of the play follows two mortals and two spirits reflecting on the theatre’s former splendor, as they yearn for its triumphant return to glory…just moments before a devastating fire destroys the building.

The Arts Alliance of Stratford is producing this event as a staged reading with light fare for the audience and fresh-cut flowers, courtesy of our generous community partners and sponsors, including Will’s Garden. Actors will perform with simple stage movement (or blocking for those familiar with the term), “script in hand,” as we honor the legacy of the American Shakespeare Festival Theatre in our community.
