Create Your Own Gravestone Art

Join us for some spooky fun at the Old Congregational Cemetery behind Stratford Library, where you can make art with gravestone rubbings.

Admission is free.

This event is part of “Edgar Allan Poe: A Tell-Tale Soirée” and the “Spectre of the Raven” art show, taking place on Saturday, September 20, at Sterling Community Center.

Host Theresa Manus-Piccolo will provide all the necessary materials and instructions for transferring the designs of the historic gravestones. Participants will tape a large sheet of paper to a stone and rub a crayon across it to capture the stone’s details.

But the fun doesn’t stop there! Theresa will also give you pointers on how to transform this historical piece into a unique work of art.

We will also receive a visit from a local, spectral celebrity: Stratford’s own Witch, Goody Bassett.
