creative writing for mental health workshop

Details

hello everyone

the past few sessions have been quite interesting and I am grateful to everyone who attended, worked through their writing projects and shared their emotional journeys. thank you for holding this safe space sacred to us.

our next session will require some preparation in terms of writing. I would like us all to think about a 'situation' that is emotionally safe and prequel to that situation which was not so safe. an example would be 'a young woman is caught in a rain storm and she runs into an alley for shelter. she hears a noise and is scared when a door opens and someone steps out. it was the back door of a restaurant and the chef had stepped out to bring in the packages that were left there. he invites her into the restaurant where she is served with warm soup.' this is just an example so it does not include detailed description of anyone's feelings. for the written piece you bring to the workshop, it would be good to include detailed emotions, use descriptors.

the situation you describe can be fictional, factual, fantasy, personal, third party, hearsay or anything else you can imagine. you can write in any genre as well- article, short story, poem etc. please try to limit to 250 or 300 words max so we have enough time to share and go through everyone's work.

what if you are unable to create this written piece within the timeframe? join us anyway and we will be able to share and work on something together.

date: Thursday, Nov 14th at 6:00pm for a duration of 1 hour.

location: virtual. zoom link will be sent.

how to join: please RSVP. only those who RSVP will be sent the zoom link.

if you have any questions, please message me.

see you. happy mental health.
