Dulwich Picture Gallery - Yoshida: Three Generations of Japanese Printmaking

Details

Dulwich Picture Gallery is the world’s first purpose-built public art gallery: it was founded in 1811 when Sir Francis Bourgeois RA bequeathed his collection of old masters “for the inspection of the public”.
Today the Gallery is a vibrant cultural hub hosting some of the UK’s leading exhibitions alongside its Permanent Collection of Baroque masterpieces.

Opening in June 2024, Dulwich Picture Gallery will bring together artworks by the Yoshida family, a Japanese artistic dynasty including Yoshida Hiroshi, Fujio, Tōshi, Hodaka, Chizuko and Ayomi. The first of its kind in the UK – and Europe more widely – this exhibition will shine a spotlight on three generations of woodblock print artists and trace the evolution of Japanese printmaking across two centuries.
The exhibition will culminate with a new site-specific installation of cherry blossom by Yoshida Ayomi, Hodaka’s and Chizuko’s daughter.

For more information about the exhibition, check this link.

Let's meet at the West Dulwich station between 2 - 2.15 pm. From there we will go to the Gallery and we'll visit the exhibition together for around 1.5 hours.
Once we finish around 4 we could go to have a coffee or tea at a cafè nearby.

Tickets cost £17.50 and include entry to the exhibition, collection and display (£10 for National Art Pass holders, £8.75 Under 30).
Please book your ticket as soon as they are available here.
