Shoreham toll bridge loop via the Old Barn Garden Centre
Details
This social ride is starting at Shoreham wooden Toll Bridge on the East side next to the Air Show Memorial at 10:00 am. The route includes a variety of surfaces, types of roads and lanes including those with some traffic and shorter sections of the Downslink. The profile is undulating without any significant hills.
The route is 32 miles in total and includes a coffee stop after about 30 minutes at the Castle Inn Hotel in Bramber then through Steyning, along Spithandle Lane to Ashington and around winding country lanes to Knepp before heading to lunch at the Old Barn Garden Centre near the A24. The route back to Shoreham is through Ashurst and joins the Downs link route at Beeding.
The sections of the Downslink are all cyclable, provided care is taken to avoid dips and muddy surfaces. If in doubt, slow down. When in narrow lanes and on roads with double lines ensure you cycle directly behind the person in front and not in parallel.
Please ensure your bike is well maintained and bring sufficient tools and materials with you for minor repairs such as punctures. Ride with care and consideration in the interest of everyone’s safety.
