The ride is starting at Hove, meeting on Hove Lawns next to the cycle lane at 10:00am South of Grand Avenue.

The route is 42 miles in total and starts with a gentle ride along the Undercliff to a coffee stop at the Whitecliffs Cafe Saltdean. We then continue East, with some great views of the coast, across the River Ouse at Newhaven through Seaford and on to the the Cuckmere River where we cycle up the beautiful valley to lunch (19 miles) at The Plough and Harrow in Litlington. The route back is along the cycle path on the A259 through Firle and Lewes. There is an option at Lewes (31 miles) to take the train back (we will cycle past the station). The route then continues along the Cycle path by the A259 down to Brighton and back along the coast to Hove.

The route is flat to undulating, the most significant hill being the climb to Falmer from Lewes. There are a variety of surfaces, types of roads and lanes including those with some traffic. When in narrow lanes and on roads with double lines ensure you cycle directly behind the person in front and not in parallel. If in doubt, slow down.

Please ensure that your bike is roadworthy and you have sufficient equipment to make at least puncture repairs. All participants are ultimately responsible for their own safety and getting home if the bike cannot be repaired roadside. The first aid provisions are no different from if you were riding on your own or informally with friends.
