Hike Mt. Pisgah (Scenic View)

Details
Join us on this 1.6-mi. trail featuring rhododendrons, mountain laurels, and an observation platform at the summit. The latter half of the moderate to strenuous hike is steep and rocky.
Highlights: Plant life is diverse along the initial portion of the trail. Birdsong is rich and musical in spring and early summer. The trail passes through a northern red oak forest with a thick shrub understory and ends at a deciduous heath bald at the summit.
Mount Pisgah's 5,721-foot summit can easily be seen from downtown Asheville. Likewise, after a steep climb through hardwood forest, Asheville is clearly visible 16 miles away. It offers a spectacular view, including the French Broad River Valley and Shining Rock Wilderness.
Recommended: Hydration, snacks, positive vibes. It's mostly shaded on the way and no shade at the top outside of a radio tower. We will take a picnic break and soak in the view before heading back.
Dogs are welcome, but must be on a leash.
