This event is open to the public and there will be many more people there than what you see on Meetup. We usually have 55-85 people.
-------

Join us for Asheville Swing Night on May 8th for an evening of swing dancing, great music, and a fun beginner-friendly lesson. πŸ’ƒπŸ•Ί

We’re changing up the lesson format a bit this month based on feedback we received, and we think you’re going to love it.

Deb and Franklin will kick things off with the beginner fundamentals so everyone can learn the basic 6-count footwork and get comfortable with swing dancing. 🎢

Then, those who want to learn more can branch off with them to learn a few fun next-step moves, while the rest of us continue practicing in a relaxed group with help from our experienced dance assistants.

No partner needed. During both the lesson and social dance, most people rotate partners, making it a fun and easy way to meet people and get comfortable in the space.

(Most people come alone, by the way.)

What dance are we learning?
Intro Lindy Hop and East Coast Swing.

How many people come?
We typically have 55–65 people, and some months much more. It’s open to the public, not just this Meetup group.

What should I wear?
Wear shoes that are comfortable to dance in. Heels are not recommended. Leather-soled shoes or comfortable sneakers are best. Dressing up is optional - people wear everything from casual to vintage-inspired outfits.
