Learn to Swing Dance + 2 Hours of Social Dancing

Let's go to Asheville Swing Night on July 10th for an evening of swing dancing, great music, and a fun beginner-friendly lesson. 💃🕺

The instructors will kick things off at 7pm with the beginner fundamentals so everyone can learn the basic footwork and get comfortable with swing dancing. 🎶

No partner needed. During both the lesson and social dance, most people rotate partners, making it a fun and easy way to meet people and get comfortable in the space.

(Most people come alone, by the way.)

What dance are we learning?
Intro Lindy Hop and East Coast Swing.

How many people come?
Throughout the night there are 55–85 people who usually attend. It's open to the public, not just this Meetup group.

What should I wear?
Wear shoes that are comfortable to dance in. Heels are not recommended. Leather-soled shoes or comfortable sneakers are best. Dressing up is optional — people wear everything from casual to vintage-inspired outfits.

About your hosts
Sara and Jered are your hosts for this meetup. Sara will be working the front door (with another lady named Sarah) from 6:45 til 7 as you arrive. Jered will be stationed inside the dance hall - walk through the door and turn right, we'll have a spot in the corner so everyone can meet each other before we disperse for the lesson and dance.

Logistics
📍 Location: Haw Creek Commons
Parking is onsite, or at Haw Creek Elementary if the lot is full. Just walk across the field to the venue.

🕖 7:00 PM sharp — Beginner swing dance lesson
(Please arrive on time, as the lesson builds progressively and is harder to join late if you're brand new.)

💃🕺 8:00 PM – 10:00 PM — Social dance with DJ

💵 $10 admission includes both the lesson and dance
Pay at the door (cash or Venmo)

🚪 Doors open at 6:45 PM
