Visit the Thomas Wolfe Memorial
Details
Come check out a historical landmark right in downtown Asheville! From the memorial's website:
"Considered by many to be one of the giants of 20th-century American literature, Thomas Wolfe immortalized his childhood home in his epic autobiographical novel, Look Homeward, Angel. Wolfe’s colorful portrayal of his family, his hometown of “Altamont” Asheville, North Carolina, and the boardinghouse in which he grew up has earned the historic home a place as one of American literature’s most famous landmarks.
"Whether you’ve read Thomas Wolfe or not, guests still appreciate learning about Asheville in the 1910s, the importance of the boardinghouse in tourism and society, and how Wolfe’s own experiences deeply influenced his writing."
We will gather inside the visitor's center to check things out! Perusing the visitor's center is free for all. There is a guided tour available at the bottom of every hour. Depending on the size of our group and attendees' interest, this could be an option! The tour is $5 per person, plus tax. There is also the option to grab lunch downtown after our visit if people are interested!
