We have a wonderful announcement! There will be an artist's reception for Atsushi Takenouchi and Hiroko Komiya during the Butoh Festival. You're invited! This event is free and open to the public. Come with questions for the performers!
Enjoy the Liminal Music of Hiroko Komiya
Liminality is a theme in October and in butoh. Atsushi's performances, accompanied by Hiroko's evocative music, take us to a place of transition, a threshold, Ma (a Japanese word meaning interval, space between objects, silence between sounds, and stillness between movements).
Hiroko's musical score creates a magical world of stimulating vibrations that envelop and stir my body, allowing Atsushi's butoh fu (poetic words used to inspire dance movement) to take hold and move me on an unconscious level. - Julie Becton Gillum. Director, Asheville Butoh Collective.
A world-renowned dancer and musician are sharing their work with us here in Asheville.
Members of the Japanese meetup are planning to joing for the Saturday night performance. Tickets are ~$23
