Details

We'll meet at 9:00 a.m. on Riceville Road, across from Berea Baptist church and plan to leave no later than 9:10 a.m.

We'll hike in the woods along the Bull Creek Trail and over to the Swannanoa River trail and back. This is a gently undulating hike through serene woods and along peaceful waterways. We hike at about 3.2 mph.

Then length of this trail is 5-6 miles, depending upon how far we hike along the river; and we will return to the cars by 11:00 to 11:15. Well behaved dogs on leashes are welcome.

Mountains-to-Sea-Trail hikes are designed for fitness and community among people who are already reasonably fit. It's not an endurance hike by any means, but it is designed so we can get our hearts beating a bit while still being able to have a conversation and meet new people. The typical pace for a hike of this sort is 3.0 to 3.2 mph.

When you arrive, we'll circle up and introduce ourselves briefly. There will be a person who is the sweep. The sweep is the person who walks last and makes sure no one gets lost or left behind. Nor is the sweep left behind.
