Skill Swap Supper at Burial Forestry Camp — Teach Something in 10 Minutes
Details
Bring one thing you can teach in 10 minutes. Walk out having learned three.
Every new transplant brings something the rest of us don't know — could be sourdough starters, how to read a topo map, how to pick a great bottle of orange wine, knitting a basic scarf, how to roll a perfect sushi at home, the trick to scoring last-minute Tourists tickets. Skill Swap Supper is the lowest-stakes way to share yours and steal a few from the room.
The Plan:
• 6:30 PM — Meet upstairs at Burial Beer Forestry Camp (10 Shady Oak Dr). Grab a beer and food from the kitchen on your own tab.
• 6:45 PM — Quick round: name, what you're teaching tonight in 10 minutes, what you'd love to learn.
• 7:00 PM — Three rotating teach-pods (groups of 3-4). You teach yours, then rotate to learn two others. Bring any small tools or props you need.
• 8:30 PM — Open hang. Compare notes, plan a follow-up, finish your beer.
What to Bring:
• One skill, hobby, recipe, life-hack, or party trick you can demo or explain in 10 minutes. Nothing too earnest — "how to fold a fitted sheet" totally counts.
• Any tiny prop, sample, or printout you need (yarn, a deck of cards, a recipe card, etc.).
• Curiosity. The whole point is to leave knowing something you didn't this morning.
Why This Event:
Asheville has trivia nights and brewery hops everywhere — but nobody is running a teach-each-other supper. This is for the people who like a side of brain with their beer, and for new-ish transplants who want to skip the small-talk loop and actually connect over what makes someone interesting. Solo attendees especially welcome — the format is built for it.
