Lunch & Learn: Intro to Toastmasters

Details
For 100 years, Toastmasters International has been helping people around the world sharpen their communication skills, build confidence, and grow as leaders. What began in 1924 as a small club in California has now grown into a global movement with over 16,000 clubs in 143 countries — and it’s still going strong.
In this interactive Lunch & Learn, Rob Z. Heskett, Toastmasters Area Director and young professional, will walk us through the history, purpose, and proven methods behind Toastmasters. You’ll get a taste of how meetings are structured, why the program works, and how it can help you personally and professionally.
We’ll explore:
- How Toastmasters has trained millions in public speaking and leadership since 1924
- The simple but powerful format that makes every meeting a safe space to practice
- Practical ways young professionals can apply Toastmasters skills in work, community, and civic life
- How to connect with local Toastmasters clubs here in Asheville
Whether you’re terrified of public speaking, looking to strengthen your leadership skills, or just curious about what makes this 100-year-old program endure, this session is for you.
Your RSVP also includes a free coworking day at Hatchworks Coworking. Come early, stay late, and get a feel for Asheville’s most beloved workspace. Free with RSVP. Space is limited to 20.
