Who is asking for your vote, and what do they want Asheville and Buncombe County’s young professionals to remember when they head to the polls?

Join Asheville’s Young Professionals for the 828 Lead Candidate Meet & Greet, a nonpartisan evening designed to give young professionals direct access to the candidates seeking to represent our community.

AYPROS has invited every candidate appearing on the official ballot in Asheville and Buncombe County to participate. Each attending candidate will receive the same brief, timed opportunity to answer one question:

“Why are you running, and what is the one thing you want Asheville and Buncombe County’s young professionals to remember about you when they head to the polls?”

This will not be a traditional debate or political forum. There will be no rebuttals, surprise questions or extended speeches. Instead, candidates will have an equal opportunity to introduce themselves, explain why they are running and share the message they most want young voters to hear.

Following the candidate showcase, the room will open for a relaxed meet and greet where attendees can speak directly with candidates, ask their own questions and learn more about the people who may soon be making decisions on behalf of our community.

Whether you follow every local race closely or are still trying to understand who will appear on your ballot, this is an opportunity to become a more informed voter without the pressure or formality of a traditional political event.
