Help us make shelter life a little brighter for Asheville's animals! 🐾
Join AYPROS for an afternoon of volunteering at Asheville Humane Society! We'll roll up our sleeves and help assemble enrichment items for shelter animals, including dogs, cats, and small animals.
These enrichment activities, including treats and toys, help reduce stress, anxiety, and boredom while supporting the animals' mental and behavioral well-being during their time at the shelter.
Volunteers will work together to prepare enrichment items for distribution and may assist with other tasks depending on the shelter's needs.

What to Know Before You Go

• Arrival & Waivers: Please arrive on time! All volunteers must complete a waiver before participating. Waivers will be available to fill out on-site for participants ages 18 and older.
• What to wear: Long pants and closed-toe shoes are required.
• Where to meet: Head to the Humane Society Adoption Center (the building on the left). The education room door will be open, and staff will greet volunteers there.
• What to expect: A hands-on volunteer experience assembling enrichment items, with additional tasks possible depending on the shelter's needs.

Want to Give a Little Extra?
Asheville Humane Society also welcomes donations of items used in its enrichment program! Some wishlist items include canned pumpkin (not pie filling), xylitol-free applesauce, dog treats, fleece blankets, rolled oats, and peanut butter powder.

Donations are completely optional and can be brought with you on the day of the event.

Only 12 volunteer spots are available, so register early to join us!
