IMPORTANT:
1) Eagle Rock Trailhead Parking is Very limited (5 cars), so please join the carpool. Due to the colder weather, we stand a good chance of finding open spaces,
2). Low clearance vehicles are NOT recommended. There is a short 1/4 mile private gravel road from the paved road to the trailhead that may have washouts?? (noted on our last visit).
3}. All should meet at Ingles on Charlotte Highway (Rt. 74-A road to Chimney Rock) at 9 am..
TRAIL INFORMATION:
Weedpatch / tunnel trail is an award-winning trail opened in 2018, built and maintained by Conserving Carolina which manages the Florence Nature Preserve, the Bearwallow Mountain, Wildcat Rock, Trombatore, Blue Ridge Pasture, and Fergason Peak trails.
The Weedpatch/tunnel trail is a point-to-point 10-mile backcountry hike/bike trail that connects Eagle Rock (at Chimney Rock) to Buffalo Creek Park in Lake Lure, North Carolina. This trail is used by rock climbers (Eagle Rock) and has a tunnel feature and two marvelous rock outcrop viewpoints overlooking Lake Lure and surrounding mountains. The vehicle parking area at Eagle Rock TRailhead is very limited (5 cars), so please carpool hopefully we will find 3 open spaces. 9:00 a.m. is the CARPOOL meetup time at the Fairview Ingles directly off Rt. 74-A. We should be at the trailhead by 9:45.
Any rain cancellation will be made by 7:30 a.m.
PACE: We keep a brisk, steady pace averaging 3MPH or more. Elevation gain about 2,400-2,500' (level 8)

DOGS: Friendly Dogs OK; There may be some spring water available on these trails. Dog owners should contribute to ride-share vehicles.
HIKE LEVELS are based on the total elevation gain per hike, distances vary. This is a level 8 hike.
Level (1) Up to 600 feet; Level (2) 600'- 900'; Level (3) 900' - 1200'; Level (4) 1200' - 1500'; Level (5) 1,500' - 1,800'; Level (6) 1,800' - 2,100'; Level (7) 2,100' - 2,400'; Level (8) 2,400' - 2700'; Level (9) 2700' - 3000' Level (10) 3000' - 4000'; Ultimate Hikes are > 4,000'.
