Bent Creek: North Boundary Road, Wolf Knob
Details
We did N. Boundary Rd. back in December, and this is a variation of that hike--a little steeper but a little shorter.
Once again we start at Rice Pinnacle parking lot. We hike up to the North Boundary Road, which marks the northern boundary of Bent Creek, and we go off-road at Meese Gap to summit an unnamed peak, down to Sheep Gap, then summit Wolf Knob, a 1000 feet climb and purportedly at 3,199 feet the tallest peak in Bent Creek. We have some great 360-degree winter views.
Wolf Knob is steep and rocky. Hiking poles recommended. This is not a beginner's hike, nor is it a hike for dogs; ergo, no dogs.
Down Wolf Knob, we rejoin North Boundary to Ingles Field Gap where we'll take a break. Then it's down Ingles Field Gap Trail and the Connector Trail to Boyd Branch Road, then Ledford Branch Road, which takes us to Wolfe Branch Trail, and then a bunch of un-named, un-mapped trails back to the parking lot.
