Bent Creek--Chestnut Cove 8 miles, 1300' ascent

Meeting Spot: Hard Times Trailhead, Bent Creek (see directions below)
Description: Good footing, mostly shaded. From Hard times trailhead hike around beautiful Lake Powatan, Pine Tree loop to Explorer, up to Chestnut Cove Overlook for a view and a snack break then, down to Sleepy Gap and a circle back to the cars. Type: Loop. Max elev: 4000'. Avg moving pace: 2.4 mph. Well behaved dogs on a leash OK. Prompt 8:30 departure.
I'll watch the weather and post a cancellation message by 7:00 AM if the forecast for rain is significant.
As usual, there is the option of grabbing a beer and/or lunch after the hike!
