Description: This is a new hike starting at the Wash Creek Horse Camp, continuing on Bear Branch, climbing up Bushy Ridge to Double Head, going over to Pine Mountain, crossing the Parkway and coming down Bad Fork. OF NOTE: There is a significant climb in the first part of the hike up to Double Head. Good footing. Shaded, Average pace 2.3 mph. No drop hike. Dogs welcome if well behaved and on a leash.
Trailhead: Wash Creek Horse Camp. From Mills River Ingles to the trailhead (6.7 miles): West (left) on North Mills River Rd for 4.8 miles to Wash Creek Rd (FS 5000) near the North Mills River Campground. Turn right onto FS 5000 for 1.9 miles (mostly gravel) to the Wash Creek Horse Camp on the right. (Note: FS5000 can be rough; sedans not recommended Also, finding the trailhead is somewhat tricky. If you are unsure, meeting at Ingles would be preferred.
