Pilot Knob--Slate Creek 7 miles 1200' ascent

Time: Wednesday, July 30. Prompt 8:00 departure from Mills River Ingles
Description: Car switch. Ascending Pilot Cove with an in and out to an amazing vista and snack break. Long descent along Slate Creek--one of the prettiest creeks in Pisgah. Good footing, shaded. Moving pace 2.4 mph. Dogs welcome if well behaved and leashed. If there is a weather cancellation, this will be posted by 7 AM the day of the hike.
Trailhead: There is a bit of a drive on Yellow Gap Road to Pilot Cove Trailhead, Mills River, I do not recommend driving directly to the trailhead as parking is limited and the GPS feature of Meetup may not be accurate
Meeting Place: Mills River Ingles, 3338 Boylston Hwy: Directions: I-26 Exit on NC-280 West, Airport Road---4.3 miles to the Ingles on the right. Meet in front of gas pumps, closest to Boylston Hwy. Mark's cell: 239-777-4743.
