Sign-ups open Sunday, Aug 3rd, 8:00 PM

This is a walk in the forest along varied trails, including some one-lane gravel roads that are good for side-by-side socializing. It's mostly easy-going on gradual hills, with a couple of moderately strenuous areas. Several trail segments are cobbled together to give us around six miles in all. Not too hard, but not really for beginners if you've never done this sort of thing. I give it a 3.5 difficulty level. We'll take a 15-minute rest around halfway through for a water break and snack if you'd like to bring something.

Well-behaved dogs are welcome, but the Forestry Service requires leashes for all. Sturdy hiking shoes/boots are recommended. Most people won't need poles for this one.

MEETING TIME & PLACE
We'll meet at Bent Creek River Park. Please come early for sign-in & introductions so we can leave promptly at 9:00 AM.

Here's the location on Google Maps: https://goo.gl/maps/Wtw2zi8K4eKFuDHUA

GUESTS
If you'd like to bring a guest, they should join the Asheville Hiking Group and sign up for the hike on their own. Alternatively, contact me in advance and ask if it's okay to bring a "+1" after you've made it onto the "Going" list. Depending on timing and demand, I may be able to add your guest.

COURTESY TO WAITLISTERS (Please!!)
Only sign up if you *truly* plan to come. If you must cancel, please change your status to "Not Going" as soon as possible. Avoid dropping out within 18 hours of the hike so wait-listers can have sufficient notice. And please please PLEASE don't be a no-show.

We'll watch the weather and post a cancellation message by 7:30 AM on the morning of the hike if the forecast is >50% chance of precipitation.
