John Rock out and back, non-intensive hike

NOTE: i will have a low threshold for rescheduling this hike as rainy conditions would make the rock face potentially hazardous

this is a ~4.6 mile 830-ish feet elevation gain out and back to the John Rock overlook, on mostly shaded trails. 1.3 miles clockwise on Cat Gap, 1 mile on the John Rock trail to the rock face overlook. return by the same route.

in keeping with previous recent hikes, pace is variable, say 2.0-2.5 mph, allowing time to fully appreciate the surroundings
