Strawberry gap + Trombatore trail + Bear Wallow Mt. trail-12 mile Fitness Hike

Description: We will start at the Strawberry Gap trailhead parking lot on HWY 74 in Gerton. We will hike the Strawberry Gap, Trambatore and Bear Wallow Mt trails to the top of Bear Wallow Mt. We will eat lunch there and then retrace our steps back to the parking lot.
Elevation Gain estimated approximately 2,960'.
Distance: Approx. 12 miles.

PACE: This is a BRISK PACE Fitness Hike averaging 2.5 MPH (on steeper climbs) to 3+MPH on the flatter / downhill sections with brief regrouping as needed and at trail intersections. This hike is not for the casual hiker. Please know your hiking abilities before signing on. If you are new to our fitness hikes and have questions message me directly or post on this site..

DOGS: unfortunately, dogs are not allowed on the Strawberry Gap trail.

Carpool : Meet at the Home Depot Parking lot in East Asheville on Fairview Rd. at 8:30. We will be on the left at the bottom of the hill as you enter.
Please post if you plan to carpool.
Otherwise we will see you at the trailhead at 9:00.

Weather: Cancellation due to weather will be made on or B/F 7:30 a.m. hike day.

HIKE LEVELS

Level (1) Up to 600 feet of elevation gain.

Level (2) 600'- 900'; Level (3) 900' - 1200'; Level (4) 1200' - 1500'; Level (5) 1,500' - 1,800**';** Level (6) 1,800' - 2,100'; Level (7) 2,100' - 2,400'; Level (8) 2,400' - 2700'; Level (9) 2700' - 3000' Level (10) 3000' - 4000';

ULTIMATE HIKES are from 4000 to 6000 feet in elevation.
