Cat Gap Loop Trail on AllTrails
https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/north-carolina/cat-gap-loop-trail?sh=pacpnj&utm_medium=trail_share&utm_source=alltrails_viralit

simple loop, about 4.6 miles and 1100 feet elevation gain. forest immersion, no epic views. the fall colors are still amazing

we'll take a clockwise approach. the first mile winds along the river then up to the access road 475C. the next 0.8 is a steady uphill to the intersection of cat gap, the bypass, and the steeper climb to the rock face trail. we'll then take the 0.4 mile ascent up to where cat gap intersects the art loeb, take a right and proceed onward and downward and around-ward, crossing cedar rock creek before the final descent back toward the hatchery.

fyi i'm open to a side quest to the falls, the 0.2 section of trail is probably clear now.

pace of 2.0 - 2.5 mph

well behaved dogs welcome!

per previous hikes:
gear up as appropriate, trekking poles are an option. bring a snack as we'll take a break mid-hike. and plenty of water!
ground rules: 1) if you sign up, show up or change your status. a no-show may undercut a motivated waitlister. 2 ) be sure you are in adequate physical shape to complete the event. 3) show consideration by emphasizing group effort and group cohesion. communication, collaboration, cooperation, that sort of thing. I hike for stress reduction and want to keep it that way as much as possible
