Graveyard Fields/Black Balsam, 10 miles, 2,000’ elevtion

I wanted to do this hike a few weeks ago when the color was out at the higher elevations but Covid put a stop to it. While the color may be gone, this is still a great hike with lots of great views.

We’ll start at Graveyard Fields and pick up the MST heading west. We’ll take the MST over to the Art Loeb trail, up Black Balsam and Tennet Mtn. Down to Ivestor Gap where we’ll pick up the Graveyard Ridge trail back to Graveyard Fields. If the colors are good this is a spectacular hike. If the colors are gone, then still fun.

For those wanted to car pool, meet at the middle parking lot at the Pisgah Ranger District ranger station on 276. Meet at 8:45 for a 9:00 sharp departure. For those meeting at the trailhead meet at Graveyard Fields no later than 9:30.
