Explorer Loop Trailhead to Chestnut Cove Around Grassy Knob and Back

This is a good cold weather hike as the first 1.5 miles is all up hill! We will start at the Explore Loop parking lot (479H and Bent Creek Rd) and will go up to the Chestnut Cove Overlook and then around Grassy Knob on the MST and down a no-name trail to South Ridge Rd and back to the parking lot on the Explorer Loop. It is about 6.6 miles and 1300 ft.

Parking is limited at the Explorer Loop Trailhead so we can carpool from the Asheville Outlets behind the Waffle House. We will leave the Outlets at 9:10 to go to the trailhead for a 9:30 start. The last two miles is dirt road to the trailhead parking. If you plan to go directly to the trailhead, let me know.
