Green Top to Shut-In Loop - 7.5 Miles 1800 Ft Elevation Gain

Sign up opens Friday, the 9th at 5pm.

This is a nice loop starting at the 479H Explorer Loop trailhead with a 1 mile long climb starting at about 1.5 miles that will challenge the fittest of you. Poles or using trees will be required in places. At the top of the climb we reach the Three Humps trail close to Green Top and head towards the Shut-In Trail below Ferrin Knob. It is a nice section of trail with beautiful winter views. We will make our way back to the Bent Creek Gap Rd via Shut-In, South Ridge and the Explorer Loop finishing at the trailhead.

Parking is limited at the trailhead so we will meet in the Asheville Outlet Mall parking lot behind the Waffle House. We will leave the parking lot at 9:10 with whoever is there. Please arrive by 9:00 to get signed in and arrange the carpool drivers.
