Details

This route goes up Reynolds Mountain and rambles along the ridge line. We do not go around Beaver Lake because of their dog rules.

Rating: Strenuous (climb up Reynolds is steep)
Distance: 6 miles
Elevation Gain: 1000 ft
Surface: Road
Pace: 3.2 mph, best effort on push up Reynolds
Features: Lake views, mountain views
Bears: Not likely
Dogs: On leash
Gear: in winter, please bring a headlamp. In summer, this hike is very hot and exposed, so bring water and/or a hat. No flip-flops.

Parking is limited at the triangle, but there is overflow parking available at Beaver Lake Bird Sanctuary. If you park at Beaver Lake Bird Sanctuary, CALL the hike leader at 828-290-0886 and let me know. Please walk to the Triangle to join the group. Alternatively, arrange a car pool from Ingles on Merrimon with others in the group by making a note in the comments below.

Route: Reynold's Mountain Winter Route

Scenic Asheville Series: There are 9 hikes in the series; hike them all and receive an attractive badge for your backpack. Check your progress HERE.
Special bonus for badge holders: You can always come on a hike, even if you are on the wait list. See our highlights here!

Wait List: If someone is waiting on a particular hike for their badge, they may be moved to Going ahead of other people. If I notice you need one more hike for your badge, I may auto-add you to the hike.

Guests: If you bring a guest, please add them as a plus one on the app so it will add them to the count of attendees. Make sure your guest knows the distance and elevation gain, and carries appropriate gear (water, headlamp in winter). Also, if someone comes as a guest, it won't count toward a badge, because I won't have record of their name (unless you text it to me or otherwise make special effort so that I know they attended).

RSVP and On-Time Start:

  • If you decide you cannot come, please change your RSVP
  • If you must cancel, please change your status to "Not Going" as soon as possible so wait-listers can have sufficient notice.
  • There are generally 1 or 2 no-shows on my hikes, so we don't wait for people to arrive. If you are late, you'll be left behind. In some hikes, there are "if late" instructions to intercept us.
  • Notes and comments are genuinely appreciated.
