Scenic AVL #8: Beaver Lake to Reynolds Mountain

This route goes up Reynolds Mountain and rambles through the neighborhood. We do not go around Beaver Lake because of their dog rules.

Rating: Strenuous (climb up Reynolds is steep)
Distance: 6.5 miles
Elevation Gain: 1000 ft
Surface: Road
Sun Exposure: 90%. There is almost no shade on this hike
Pace: 3.2 mph, best effort on push up Reynolds

Features: Lake views, mountain views
Bears: Not likely
Dogs: On leash
Gear: in winter, please bring a headlamp. In summer, this hike is very hot and exposed, so bring water and/or a hat. No flip-flops.

Guests: If you bring a guest, please add them as a plus one on the app so it will add them to the count of attendees. Make sure your guest knows the distance and elevation gain, and carries appropriate gear (water, headlamp in winter). Also, if someone comes as a guest, it won't count toward a badge, because I won't have record of their name (unless you text it to me or otherwise make special effort so that I know they attended).

  *There are generally 1 or 2 no-shows on my hikes, so we don't wait for people to arrive. If you are late, you'll be left behind. In some hikes, there are "if late" instructions to intercept us.
