12 Mile Route
Isaiah will be leading the full 12 mile route around west Asheville through Malvern Hills and back along Haywood. Isaiah and his wife created the route many years ago when they were training for their first Camino. It's amazing to see how the tradition of urban hiking has grown in Asheville as a result of their original training hikes. Here is the route that Isaiah will lead: https://www.alltrails.com/explore/custom-routes/avl-camino-frances-west-loop-7bb5b06?u=i&sh=ifwm3x

7 Mile Route
I will be leading the shorter option of 6.75 miles, which will start with the full group, and then turn up the road that overlooks the French Broad River. We will stop for coffee at Wrong Way Campground at the 3.4 mile mark.
All Trails Route for SHORTER option: [https://www.alltrails.com/explore/custom-routes/copy-avl-camino-frances-west-loop-3645ccb?u=i&sh=ifwm3x ](https://www.alltrails.com/explore/custom-routes/copy-avl-camino-frances-west-loop-3645ccb?u=i&sh=ifwm3x)

Elevation Gain: 600 ft
Both routes have about the same elevation gain (down to the river and back).

What to bring:
Payment method for coffee or snacks. For the longer hike, there will be a brief lunch stop near a market where you can buy a sandwich or eat a sandwich you bring with you. Carry adequate water.

There are NO BATHROOMS at the start, so plan accordingly.

This hike will count as a weekend wildcard on my Scenic Asheville series. There are 9 hikes in the series; hike them all and receive an attractive badge for your backpack.

Guests: This is a good hike to bring a guest, because it's not as hard as some others. If you bring a guest, remind me of their name at the end so that they will get credit for the hike.
