Description: Hike from the Blue Ridge Parkway, along the Mountain-to-Sea trail, through Bent Creek and around Lake Powhatan, then back to the BRP. Good footing; mostly wide trails; some nearby creeks; nice view from Sleepy Gap. From Sleepy Gap south on the MST via Chestnut Cove to Explorer and Pine Tree loops. Then circle the Lake and have a snack at the picnic tables. Ascend via Small Creek and Deerfield Connector to the unmarked Stambaugh trail and the MST back to Sleepy Gap. Type: Loop. Max elev: 3200’. Avg moving pace: 2.4 mph. Difficulty (1=effortless, 10=hard): 6. Well behaved dogs on a leash are OK
