Rocky Fork Double - Abt 7 Miles, 1300 Ft EG, Maybe More
Details
Rocky Fork State Park in in TN and about 40 minutes from the carpool area up I26 from Asheville. We will start out with the White House Cliffs out-and-back hike at just 2 miles but 1000 ft of elevation gain on the up section but a spectacular view at the top. After a short break at the cars, we will head up Flint Creek and probably just do an out-and-back. The trail crosses the creek several times on foot bridges and the fall colors should be spectacular. For those of you that did this hike with me last spring, I don't plan to do the loop with the deep water crossing at the end. It might be a little chilly for that on Monday but I could be convinced otherwise.
Bring some snacks for after the hike before we head back to Asheville. I hear someone is turning 67.
CARPOOL
Let's meet at the USDA Forest Service Supervisor's Office by just off the UNCA/Broadway exit on I26 at 8:30. If you plan to meet at the trailhead, please let me know. We should be ready to start hiking by 9:15.
WEATHER
The weather currently might be okay for Monday but I'll watch the weather and post a cancellation message by 7:00 AM if there is a chance of severe weather or lightning during this time period..
