PIGEON RIVER to confluence with FR. BROAD/RANKIN RIVER ACCESS

LATER IN THE DAY START AND FINISH COINCIDING WITH DAM RELEASE
CLASS I river trip on the tail end of the Pigeon River to the confluence of the French Broad down to the Rankin take-out. Approx. 10 miles.
Must start later in the day as the dam release water won't reach our put-in until then. Water should reach our PUT-IN by 3 p.m.
A lovely laid back trip with many islands, rock cliffs through Newport and wildlife. Deer, osprey, Great Blue Heron, Night Heron amongst songbirds.
Meeting at Home Depot, Asheville, exit 44 to shuttle from there.
You are responsible to have all your own gear, PFD and whistle, at least 6' line on bow of boat, food and water, and everything D-clipped to boat.
