What we’re about
Welcome to Asheville Social Club (ASC). We are a welcoming and inclusive group. Our members are truly interested in making connections and friendships. Several have been known to say that this group has really changed their lives for the better!
We enjoy many different types of events and invite you to join us in whatever way speaks to you – the great outdoors – hiking, camping, tubing, Whitewater rafting, kayaking, paddleboarding, snowtubing, skiing, music at various venues including local breweries, dance lessons, bowling, sporting events, and so much more.
We are a public group with many members and therefore invite all members to exercise good judgement when at events especially since most occur in pubic venues that may bring people who are not members in attendance. It is also noted that we utilize an APP at meetup.com that like any other type of social media could invite strangers to reach out and connect to you in ways that may not feel appropriate. We do our best to take care of one another and urge anyone who has any issues to please bring it to the attention of the organizers. It is our interest that everyone feel safe at all times. We will happily assist anyone who feels uncomfortable at an event or with an online experience.

Today we are going to paddle 13 miles on the Fr. Broad from Hot Springs to Wolfe Creek access. Class I-I+ with maybe some low II's. Although it is a lot of miles, the water flow is always fast here, so we make good time. Approx. drive from Sams Club to put-in is 35 miles. This is a very rural stretch w/ epic mountain views, lots of islands, some wave trains and numerous small whitewater ledges scattered about. At lunch we will be taking out at PAINT ROCK and for those that have never climbed it....we will. It's a short trek up to the top and it is, in my opinion, one of the loveliest river views of the French Broad from up high..... Breathtaking!!! You don't have to climb it if you choose not to. Google Paint Rock to read the amazing history behind this place.
You must have life jacket & whistle, 7' line on bow for man- over- boards, lunch and all your own appropriate paddling gear. Please have everything D-clipped (water bottles, lunch, etc.) to your kayak/canoe. Please note that the ending time is only a guess. We will meet and carpool from Sams Club, Asheville to the put-in.
NO INFLATABLES or SUP's please. If you live closer to the put in arrange to meet me there . Questions, please text me: 828-279-1664
