Friday Night Feeder - "Asees Indian Restaurant" (Harris Park)

Details

Relatively flat and easy 25 km ride out to dinner at Harris Park with a 20 km ride back to Croydon Park in the dark. This would suit riders with some cycling experience who want an introduction to riding at night, using mostly off-road cycle paths, easy pace averaging 16 kph. You must be 18 years or over to join this ride.

Starting from the Lees Park public bike repair stand on the Cooks River Cycle Path at Croydon Park, we will set off at 4.30 pm along the Cooks River, through Sydney Olympic Park to Rhodes, then across the Parramatta River to Meadowbank where we join the Parramatta Valley Cycleway. We'll follow PVC into Parramatta then dive quickly across the river and through the south of Parra City into "Little India" at Harris Park. We have an indoor table booked for dinner at 6.30 pm at Asees Indian Restaurant, menu here. Licensed (and BYO wine, $3 corkage pp)

Expect to spend up to 90 minutes at the restaurant before we set off on the return, using the M4 Cycleway into Sydney Olympic Park, then across Homebush to reconnect to the Cooks River Cycleway and back down to our Lees Park finish. Return trip is usually a little faster, or you can hop on a train at Harris Park for your return.

This ride is suitable for all bicycle types (MTB, Hybrid, Road, Touring and legal e-bikes). You will need a bike in good mechanical order; helmet; water bottle; spare inner tube(s) in case of puncture. Check tyre pressure before leaving. As it will be a night ride, you will need a working white light on the front of your bike and a working red light on the rear; check your lights' batteries. E-bike riders should ensure their battery has a range of at least 45km.

And of course, bring enough money for dinner and drinks

Riding at night on the cycle paths is a really nice way to cycle as very few people are about after dark and we should have the paths mostly to ourselves on the return leg!
