Romero's The Amusement Park (1975): A Conversation on Age & Society

The most haunting specter this Halloween may not be the walking dead. Join us for a different kind of scare: a community talk circle about how our society faces aging and cares for its elders.
This week, while many are revisiting Romero’s Night of the Living Dead, we turn instead to his rarely seen film The Amusement Park (1975). Originally commissioned by the Lutheran Service Society of Western Pennsylvania as an educational piece on aging, Romero’s unsettling treatment led to the project being abandoned and shelved for decades.
Following the under-one-hour screening of this vintage, eerie reel, we will open a circle for reflection and discussion. Together we’ll explore what lingers—dignity and neglect, public space and power, and the cultural split that allows a society to celebrate strength while turning away from its own fragility.
