What we’re about
We are: people of Asian-American/Pacific Islander descent who appreciate community and good food! Our group is a safe and inclusive space for ppl of East, Southeast, South Asian or Pacific Islander descent, including those who are adoptees or bi/multi-racial.
What we do: gather about once a month for a meal
Why: 1) Awesome food! We’re adventurous eaters who enjoy all kinds of cuisines. Group meals = more dishes, and geeking out about food.
2) Community connection! So we can laugh, learn, and support each other. It’s nice to be with people who can tell you apart from that one other guy at work, and who think the food is exciting, not "weird"
Details/requests:
- Please post a picture of your face so we know who you are.
- Be kind to everyone- we are all here looking for connection and support!
- Be respectful of and mindful of boundaries.

Hi to Hai Hai
Hai Hai Restaurant, 2121 University Ave NE, Minneapolis, mn, USMeet us for dinner at Hai Hai restaurant. The restaurant won a James Beard award last year for its Southeast Asian inspired food. We will meet at 6 for casual conversation and dinner. Allies of the Asian community welcome.
Web description.
HAI HAI is a Southeast Asian street food restaurant & bar in Northeast Minneapolis. HAI HAI means two two in Vietnamese - a nod to the building's past life as the infamous 22nd Avenue Station (aka Deuce Deuce), a dive bar & strip club.
Inspired by dishes that Chef Christina Nguyen grew up eating at home, at family celebrations, in Vietnamese Sunday school basements & during several trips to Southeast Asia, you can expect to find more than just the standards like pho & pad thai. HAI HAI will shine the spotlight on some lesser known delicious regional dishes, along with new & original dishes using the Southeast Asian palette of flavors.
