Irrawaddy Taste of Burma Dinner Indian Chinese Thai Laotian Fusion North OC
Details
I love Burmese food!
Myanmar, formerly known at Burma, borders India, China, Thailand and Laos.
This small, family run restaurant features cuisine that is exotic, sophisticated and unique. Burma is the melting pot capitol of the world.
Their distinct blend of food reflects this.
Their food is similar to their neighbors but has it's own blend of ingredients and flavors.
Authentic Burmese home cooking.
They have been around for many years. Located in Stanton, a small town in north Orange County
.
Their dishes are prepared from scratch using raw ingredients and focusing on healthy, light dishes.
The MENU is amazing
Appetizers
include samusas which are like Indian samosas but different. Burmese falafels...Paratha as Myanmar borders India.
All the salads sound delicious. I still remember their signature tea leaf salad. Two other salads that strike me are the ginger salad and Burmese chicken salad.
Oodles of noodles such as coconut noodles, garlic noodles, and Burmese pad Thai.
And we cannot forget Burmese biryani rice dishes.
Burmese catfish chowder!!!!
Coconut chicken soup.
Beef curry noodle soup.
Mint leaf chicken.
Garlic butter shrimp.
Mango chicken.
Basil fish curry.
Multiple other curries!
Tea leaf lamb is a must try.
Pumpkin pork stew, how does that sound?

Most people will be eating family style so we can try a bunch of their delicious dishes. A few members will order individually. This blend of dining options works well. No other foodie groups do this
.
Irrawaddy's food is based upon family recipes and Burmese street food.
Their signature dish is the tea leaf salad:
Romaine lettuce, fried garlic, fried mashed lentils, and pumpkin seeds. The special dressing is made from imported Burmese tea leaves.
