Our foodie meetup group has had 4 successful dining events at their Venice location but they have shrunk their menu. The original, flagship restaurant on National has a larger menu with several fish dishes.

Simpang Asia is primarily Indonesian with fusion incorporating:
Malaysian,
Singaporean,
Indian, and
Chinese influences.
Halal.

The menu is exciting. Vegetarian friendly. 3 or 4 vegan dishes.

Dishes include:

gado-gado salad w peanut dressing etc
laksa seafood noodle soup (shrimp,squid,fish ball,tofu etc)
satay
2 oxtail soups
salmon curry
grilled & fried fish
seafood garlic noodles (shrimp,calamari,fish ball)

The event host will choose the dishes with the input of everyone to ensure a balanced Indonesian meal. Let's try to expand our comfort zone and shy away from ordinary dishes you can order at all too many Asian restaurants, like satay and calamari. Simpang has many wonderfully delicious authentic Indonesian dishes.

To be on the safe side, please bring at last $60 in cash.

Extra for beverages. It is better to have too much than too little. It will probably be less.

Small bills to make settling the bill easiest. NOT all 20s please.

No takeout on your own when we order as that creates confusion. You may order your takeout order later.

If you must cancel, at least 48 hours notice is requested so foodies on the wait list can make arrangements.
