PROVISIONAL DATE Walk, Talk, Munch the Capital Ring Walk 9 - Greenford to Harrow

This meetup has been postponed from Sept. 28th due to the rain. The date has not been finalised but I had to choose a date for this page because the Meetup website would not allow me to leave the date blank.

These walking meetups are more of a stroll than a fast paced hike, with time for chatting and the occasional photo. At the end we’ll have a well-earned lunch.

We have been walking the Capital Ring long distance path - 78 miles of walks made up of 15 sections forming a ring running through lots of parks and watersides of the suburbs of London, Each section begins and ends near a tube or train station. So - coming up we have our 9th walk of the capital ring. We are walking 4.5 miles of the Capital Ring Path from Greenford to Harrow-on-the-Hill.

We will start with a quick coffee at Costa at 10:30 followed by walking from 11 - then lunch in Harrow. (Meet at Costa Coffee, Westway Cross Retail Park, 1000 Greenford Rd, Greenford UB6 0UW .) The forecast is dry.

We'll finish with a meal at Hakkaland in Harrow-on-the-Hill - a Indian-Chinese fusion restaurant - halal food, with lots of veggie options and boasting Chinese chefs from India!

Of interest we will pass through:

• Paradise Fields - a former Golf Course, now nature reserve
• Horsenden Hill Recreation Ground - with good views from the small Horsenden Hill
• Grand Union Canal with its houseboats and ducks etc
• Picturesque Harrow village with the
• famous Harrow School founded in 1572 whose alumni include eight former British or Indian Prime Ministers (including Peel, Palmerston, Baldwin, Churchill and Nehru), Nobel prize winners etc. There are lovely historic buildings e.g. the chapel.
• Again good views across London from Harrow-on-the-Hill (a gently sloping hill.)

This is a green and pretty walk - which means after this week's rain there maybe a little mud - make sure you're not in sandals or ballet pumps!
