About us
Welcome to ASL Bridge/DMV! This group is open to all levels of American Sign Language (ASL) – whether you're a native signer, teacher, student, or simply curious about ASL. We bring together a diverse community of individuals passionate about ASL, Deaf culture, and inclusion.
Our calendar features a variety of ASL, Deaf, and Deaf-friendly events across the DC, MD, and VA area (with friends and members also from WV, PE, and DE). Check our calendar for upcoming gatherings, and if you know of an event that isn’t posted yet, feel free to reach out to us!
We encourage everyone to explore our message board and files link for additional information on local events. Need a sign language interpreter? Contact us at interpreters@nvrc.org. Looking for a mentor? Reach out to execdirector@nvrc.org.

Join the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community for an important and timely virtual town hall focused on open captioning legislation and accessibility in Virginia. This event centers the lived experiences of Deaf, Hard of Hearing, Late-Deafened, and DeafBlind individuals and highlights why open captions are essential for full access in public spaces such as movie theaters, live performances, and community events.
We are honored to welcome Delegate Phil Hernandez (Virginia House of Delegates, District 94), a key sponsor of open captioning legislation. Delegate Hernandez has a Deaf sister, knows American Sign Language (ASL), and brings both professional leadership and personal commitment to advancing accessibility and inclusion. His lived experience informs his advocacy and passion for improving communication access through legislation.
Participants will hear directly from Delegate Hernandez, ask questions, and engage in meaningful dialogue about accessibility, equity, and policy.Zoom registration link for the Town Hall Meeting on April 15th:
