Our group is dedicated to connecting creators from all over the country who share a passion for capturing stunning images and mastering their art. Step into the art of light and discover how simple it can be to create powerful images.

In this hands-on workshop, Stephen Karlisch shows how to build lighting setups using Profoto lights and modifiers — starting with the ease of a single light that instantly brings life to a space, then moving into more dynamic multi-light arrangements that shape mood and atmosphere. Along the way, you’ll see how those same setups allow you to introduce people into the frame for quick, editorial-style portraits.

More importantly, you’ll gain the confidence to use lighting as a creative tool, free of intimidation, with methods you can repeat anywhere. Designed for photographers of all genres — interiors, portraits, weddings, or brand work — this workshop builds solid lighting principles that enhance every direction your career might take. You’ll leave with not only technical know-how, but also the confidence to light with intention, simplicity, and control.

And this event marks the beginning of ASMP’s 80th Anniversary Celebration! At each stop, attendees will be able to join in the festivities with access to exclusive giveaways and merch, and even take a look into the rarely seen ASMP Archives!

Don't miss this one-night-only event from ASMP National (the American Society of Media Photographers) as they come to Chicago for a 1/2-Day Workshop with renowned photographer Stephen Karlisch followed by a (free!) and open to the public evening reception! This marks the first event celebrating ASMP's 80th Anniversary. The workshop is a paid, 1/2-day event, (see details & register HERE), but the Evening Reception is open to the entire Chicago Creative Community!

Come and mingle with your peers in the Chicago creative community and meet Stephen, and check out the latest info and gear from ASMP, Profoto, Sony, Tether Tools, and Dodd Camera. You can meet and talk to the Fred Windholz from Profoto, the Sony rep, and some of the incredible team at Dodd Camera. ASMP CEO Thomas Maddrey and ASMP COO Melanie Porter will be in attendance, as well as a selection of stunning items from the ASMP Archives!
