What we’re about

Joining the Group:
If you're nervous about speaking or being seen, join our Zoom session with your microphone muted and camera off. You can watch and listen without being seen or heard. Use the text chat if you feel comfortable; many participants do.

In today's digital age, having a safe, welcoming space for connection is crucial. This socializing group is for autistic individuals, whether formally diagnosed or self-identified, and their allies. Run by those with personal ties to autism, we understand the unique social challenges faced by our members.

The intent is to provide an online community offering a supportive environment for friendly chats, sharing experiences, and virtual activities. Beyond socializing, we aim to educate and raise awareness about autism, breaking stereotypes and promoting neurodiversity.

Besides regular virtual meetups, we may periodically host special events like game nights, watch parties, book clubs, guest speaker sessions, etc. when inspiration strikes and interest aligns.

All participants are welcome, provided they show respect and sensitivity to others.
You’re invited to discuss both positive and negative experiences with various organizations, including religious, political, health, or educational institutions. However, the host will intervene in discussions that might become overly polarized or upsetting, particularly those relating to religion or politics.

During each meeting, the host will:

  • Invite first-time participants to share their diagnosis and location, if they feel comfortable doing so. It's completely okay if they prefer to stay muted with their camera off.
  • Open the floor for everyone to discuss any topics they wish.
  • Primarily listen and participate without guiding the discussion, unless:
  • Controversial issues arise.
    • There is a lack of kindness and respect.
    • A single person dominates the conversation.
  • Reserve the right to remove or ban any participant who does not adhere to the rules outlined below.

Let's values inclusivity and creating a safe space for all members to share their experiences and thoughts. We encourage open-mindedness.

We prioritize inclusivity and respect, ensuring everyone feels valued and heard.
Our community is enriched by members from diverse backgrounds. Many autistic individuals struggle to find safe spaces to socialize without judgment or feeling overwhelmed. Let’s avoid creating such barriers. We encourage everyone to participate, share, and learn from each other. Your commitment to these values and rules helps keep our group welcoming for all.

Our group upholds strict guidelines for comfort and respect, and we encourage reporting any inappropriate behavior to the host.

  • Zero tolerance for discrimination, including anti-LGBTQ+ behavior.
  • Personal beliefs are not excuses for hate, bullying, or ableism.
  • Use respectful language, speak calmly, and refrain from making derogatory remarks.
  • Be mindful of actions that may trigger sensory overload.

To maintain a safe and inclusive environment, we may remove members who don't follow the rules. Violations will lead to:

  1. First Offense: 2-week suspension.
  2. Second Offense: 2-month suspension.
  3. Third Offense: Permanent expulsion.

Let's continue to grow and learn in an atmosphere of respect and inclusivity. Thank you for being a vital part of our community.

Warm regards,
The group hosts
