Welcome to "Introduction to Neurodivergence" - a virtual seminar presented by Essy Knopf, an Associate Social Worker and a neurodivergent individual. In this three-hour seminar, taking place live on Zoom on Saturday, May 13th, 2023 at 12 pm PDT, Essy Knopf will provide foundational knowledge about being neurodivergent, including insights into the experiences of those with autism and ADHD.

· What it looks and feels like to be autistic and/or ADHD
· Distinguishing autism from ADHD and recognizing crossover traits
· Recognizing the role of systemic ableism and structural ableism
· Why neurodivergence is often overlooked or misdiagnosed
· Common challenges for neurodivergent folks
· Factors that can lead to neurodivergent individuals seeking a diagnosis
· Benefits of getting diagnosed
· Challenges involved in getting diagnosed
· Common co-occurring conditions
· Identifying, understanding, and accommodating your neurodivergent needs
· Learning how to drop your "mask" and embrace your authentic self
· Learning how to identify and harness your neurodivergent strengths
· Tips for flourishing as a neurodivergent
· Suggestions on how to find your community
This seminar is suitable for people who believe they may be neurodivergent, may be seeking a diagnosis, or may already have one and would like to learn more about their neurodivergent identities. It is also suitable for friends and family members of neurodivergent folks, and professionals hoping to learn more about neurodivergence. Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in discussions and a question-and-answer (Q&A) session with the presenter.
