ABH Study Group - All Too Human; Free Will, Free Thought and Freedom (2 of 8)

Details
ABH presents a discussion on the idea of being Human; we will review the secular position of Human existence, looking into the ideas of self-conception, free will vs. determinism and how freedom as an ideal has evolved over the centuries.
Session 2 of 8: On Heidegger - The Rejection of Humanism
For supporting material on this session, we have linked to the video playlist series "Self Under Seige" by Prof Rick Roderick. Consisting of 8x 45-minute videos covering 20th-century philosophy, this resource will be the basis for all our discussions on the ideas of the Self going forward.
The Association of Black Humanists (ABH) presents a new series of workshops aimed at helping us embrace all aspects of practising Humanism.
To support our work, you can donate to our ongoing efforts to expand Humanism for all here.
The ABH Study Group offers us a collective space to read, study and discuss the form Humanism takes in our everyday lives, with our focus on how Humamism affects us as members of the diaspora.
Led by Ewere Owaka (current ABH Philosopher in residence), we will cover a range of topics from Philosophical enquiry to Political agency in the modern landscape.
This will be a safe space to learn and make mistakes with those who can better understand your situation. No racist, sexist, or homophobic acts will be tolerated, and those who disturb our discussion will be removed and banned immediately. Please be advised.
