Astoria Tech (Virtual) Meetup #20 - Activism by Tech during the Pandemic
Details
Hey Astorians!
September is here, and fall is upon is. 🍁 So put on a sweater and join us at our next meetup! (From the comfort of your own home, of course.)
We'll start with a few randomized breakout rooms in Zoom (they were a hit last time 🎸). After, we're excited to be hearing from Sunny Ng!
Sunny is a software engineer at Squarespace by day and a transit activist all other times. He's the creator of goodservice.io and the Weekendest, projects that analyze subway performance and help riders navigate the system during planned service changes, respectively.
He'll be talking to us about the projects he launched during the pandemic (https://subwayridership.nyc* and https://nypdcomplaints.com**) after feeling helpless and frustrated by the pandemic and police brutality.
After that, feel free to stick around to discuss the talk and anything else tech or Astoria related after!
See you all there! 🤝
