Astoria Tech Workshop: Docker 101

IMPORTANT: This workshop requires a basic understanding of programming and the terminal.

​Docker is a platform designed to create, deploy, and run applications by utilizing containers, which package up all dependencies and configurations needed to ensure consistency across different computing environments.

We will go over what Docker is, why so it's useful, and teach you the basics on how to use it.

Everyone will learn how to:

• use the Docker CLI
• write a Dockerfile and build a Docker image
• run containers locally, via Docker and Docker Compose

​Attendees should:

• ​Bring their own laptop
• Install Docker ahead of time
• (because seats are limited) attend the whole workshop
