~ The Markers for ADD & ADHD ~
According to the CDC, 11% of children between the ages of 6 through 17 have been diagnosed with either ADD or ADHD. Many of them receive treatment for their disorder, not all, however, do. It is very likely the statistics hold true for adults as well as children--though many adults may never have received a diagnosis. It is therefore quite likely there are more incidences of people having ADD or ADHD than have been diagnosed or identified and reported in the statistics.
Astrologer and author Gayle Geffner will introduce her work on the astrological markers of ADD/ADHD and her latest book, Astrological Markers of ADD/ADHD (published by ACS Publications, Epping, NH). She will share her insights into the charts and lives of both celebrities and clients she has worked with, people who live with ADD/ADHD. She will talk about the cutting edge astrological research she has done, and share her work showing a specific asteroid forming an aspect to certain planets can be found in the natal charts of people who have ADD/ADHD.
Gayle works with karmic conditions in the natal chart, and feels this topic is very relevant for today's children. 11% is just a number, but this number means that the CDC calculates that in every classroom of 30 children, at least 3 will probably have ADD or ADHD. This number corresponds to adults as well, and the disorder will affect them all both on a personal level, and in the workplace. Gayle not only offers insight into the astrology of this disorder, she also offers helpful hints to cope as well.
Gayle Geffner has been an Astrologer for over forty years, and as an author, she has published articles in Aspect Magazine, in The Regulus Ebertin Newsletter (Australia), in Today's Astrologer, published by American Federation of Astrologers, and in the Baltimore Chapter, NCGR, newsletter and in national NCGR's Memberletter and the NCGR Journal. Gayle's books include Creative Step-Parenting, published by American Federation of Astrologers, and Pathways to Success, published by ACS Publications when it was in San Diego. She co-authored (with Barbara Hawkins) Astrology at a Glance: A Guide for Astrological Delineation, which is a classroom guide published by American Federation of Astrologers.
Gayle's academic degrees include a BA in History from California State University, Northridge and two paralegal certificates from University of West Los Angeles School of Law (in corporations and litigation). She currently lives in Los Angeles, CA.
By the time of this Meetup, April 9, we will have three planets retrograde with Saturn joining Jupiter and Venus on April 5. Mercury will be joining them later on the 9th giving us four of eight possible planets retrograde. Can you feel this shift, from two retrograde planets to four? Things may seem to slow down a bit and it may feel as though more effort is required to get things to happen. People may internalize things more and as such be more sensitive. With one of the four being Mercury, choose your words very carefully, whether spoken, text or email. Both the Sun and Moon will be moving slower than normal which when considered with the three retrograde planets can create a sense of delays and the need for extra effort to make things happen. With retrogrades there can also be a tendency to internalize more things more often. Know that these are transits and they too shall pass.
Saturn, the task master and Lord of Karma and structure stationed retrograde April 5 at 27 Sagittarius. Saturn has been at that degree, 27 Sagittarius since the evening of March 5 and after going retrograde still won’t leave 27 for 26 Sagittarius until May 7, a total of 63 days or 9 weeks at 27 Sagittarius. In which house does 27 Sagittarius fall in your chart? That house has probably been emphasized since March and will continue to be emphasized. For this retrograde Saturn will go back to 21 Sagittarius. In which house does this degree fall in your chart? Also watch for transits from 21-27 of the other mutable signs, particularly Gemini, the opposite sign, but also Virgo and Pisces, the squared signs. While Saturn will be retrograde until August 25, He won’t reach new territory and 28 Sagittarius until early December. Looks like we are in this for the long haul.
The chart pattern for the Meetup will be a locomotive with a slow Moon in cardinal Libra as the engine and Mars, stuck in fixed Taurus as the caboose. Don’t expect things to happen quickly. Some delays are inevitable. Practice relaxation techniques and work on your patience. Remember, all will be alright in the end; and if it isn’t alright now, then it isn’t the end.
If you would like to be a speaker or have ideas for future topics, please let Spencer or I know. What we don’t know, we can all learn together.

Spencer and I have talked about this and because of the ongoing expense of the fees for the meetup site and costs of copies and such, we are going to add a container for “love donations” to help defray some of the costs. This is entirely voluntary. There is no fee or charge for attending this meetup; this is just to help defray some of the costs.
This meetup will be at our usual location, UnUrban Café, 3301 Pico Blvd. Great little coffee shop with delicious food and excellent drink selections. Do support the UnUrban if you can by buying a drink and/or something to eat.
Because of the remodel at the UnUrban, we need to move our post-meeting discussions and class from the back room to the main/front area by 3pm so others can have the opportunity to use the backroom and stage.
If you have any questions or just want to chat, e-mail me jimmy_eddy@hotmail.com or ring me up, 818-667-4417.
Thank you for your continued support. We look forward to seeing you all April 9, 2017, noonish at the UnUrban Café.
