Alice Portman
Alice has been a student of astrology for 56 years and a Professional Astrologer for 54 years. For much of this time Alice has been a teacher of astrology through classes, tutorials and workshops. Alice is interested in all forms of Astrology and an expert in some. Her area of greatest expertise is modern Tropical Astrology, although she has studied Vedic astrology, Chinese astrology and various forms of astrology from other times and places. Alice discovered Duad charts and this system is now included in Solar Fire and and Astro Gold software. One of her greatest blessings as a student of astrology was to attend Martin Lewiki’s courses of the Astronomy of Astrology at the Planetarium in Adelaide, as this gave her a very clear understanding of the astronomical basis of astrology.
Alice is mostly self-taught yet attended the first classes in Adelaide run by Bonnie Matthes, and learned Cosmobiology from Doris Greaves, going on to graduate from FAA exams and attaining her Professional Membership of the FAA in 1984. Alice has been been a speaker various times at FAA Conferences, the last being in January 2025

I have consulted and taught professionally for over 50 years. In 1984, I received the Professional Member of the Federation of Australian Astrologers (PMFAA) qualification and then became an Examiner for the FAA in 1986-1988.
I have spoken at several Federation of Australian Astrologers (FAA) conferences, the most recent being in Melbourne in January 2025.
My major skill is in Tropical Astrology, but I am also a long-term student of Vedic Astrology and Chinese Astrology.
I am a ‘general practitioner’ in astrology as I have been a consultant for people from all walks of life and in almost all situations of life. I am fascinated by all forms of mundane astrology.
